August Update – 2010

Greetings!

Today is September 7th which means that, Lord willing, we have less than four months until we leave for Mexico! As you can imagine we are getting very excited about being on the field full-time. We have been traveling for just over five months now and we will be very thankful to be able to unpack the suitcases!

We spent almost the entire month of August in Florida. We started the month off at Providence Village Church in Lake Butler, Fl. We also spent a Sunday at our home Church, Turning Point at Calvary in St. Augustine, and Lord opened the door for us to present at Memorial Baptist Church in Jacksonville. We had planned on leaving Florida around the 20th and heading to Indiana to present in Churches there but the Lord had other plans. Sam had continued to have periodic seizures and suffered from severe mood problems as a side effect from his medicine. God allowed us to get him in to see a pediatric neurologist on August 24th so the church we were scheduled in Indiana for August 22nd graciously allowed us to reschedule and we stayed in Florida for the appointment. We would like to thank each and everyone of you who have continued to pray for little Sam. The doctor changed his medicines around and since then he has been completely seizure free and since we began weaning him off the old medicine his moods have improved dramatically. The following evening we drove overnight to Kokomo, Indiana where we presented at Victory Baptist Church on August 29th to wrap up the month.

We are so thankful to have such a wonderful sending church and church home at Turning Point at Calvary. We had a wonderful time catching up with our friends and church family while in Florida. We had an opportunity to meet with the Senior Pastor, Mark Conrad, and he informed us that our formal commissioning service and my ordination was scheduled for the Sunday, December 5th. We will be hosting a special Mexican dinner the week before at the Church for anyone who is interested in learning more about the ministry in Oaxaca, has any questions about the ministry, or just wants to devour some good authentic Mexican food! We are very excited to have a chance to spend some time with our church family and share our passion for seeing Christ glorified in Oaxaca. We also would like to thank Pastor Mark and TPAC for replacing the alternator in our Jetta. It had been giving us trouble and it was only a matter of time before it went out. It is a huge relief to not have to worry about it going out as we travel around. Thank the Lord we have never broken down on deputation and Lord willing it will continue that way for the next four months!

We also want to thank all of you who support us in prayer and finances. Our faith has grown by leaps and bounds as God has come through and provided for us in every situation. Those of you who support us monthly as well as those of you who support us with periodic gifts and those of you who faithfully pray for the ministry are the reason that we are able to continue to travel around and raise further funding for the missions work in Oaxaca. Your gifts are making it possible for the Gospel of Christ to go out to a place where it has never been heard before so that our Lord and Savior might be glorified. We thank God for each and everyone of you and your sacrificial commitment to seeing Him glorified through the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Lord willing we will be departing for Mexico at the end of December. Please continue to pray that the Lord will open doors for us to present the ministry and to lay a burden of others hearts to support the ministry whether it be for $5 or $500 a month. Every dollar pledged monthly puts us closer to full support and Mexico!

Please continue to pray for our safe travels and that God would be glorified in our ministry. We are gearing up for a very busy fall! If the Lord allows us to confirm all of the meetings we have currently pending we will have all but two Sundays booked between now and Christmas. We will be in Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Florida, and Mississippi. Once again if you are interested in having us present at your church please contact us with you pastor’s information or have him contact us directly. We still have a few Sunday openings and most Wednesday evenings. Also don’t forget you can find us on facebook at, stanley’s2mexico, and at our website: www.stanleys2mexico.com. On our website you can find a list of prayer requests and the most recent issue of our kid’s blog which is a great way to get your kids and grandkids excited about missions. If you would like a prayer card or bookmark email us your address and we will get one right out to you.

Philippians 4:17 – “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.”

In Christ,
Nathan, Mary, & Little Sam
